Gîtes@Chatenet

ext blue doors

Ruth and Neil Shipman, formerly of Hungerford, now run three lovely gîtes located in the south of the Charente-Maritime region of South West France.

Renovated from old farm buildings and well maintained, they provide a modern living space yet maintain a great deal of character, with many exposed beams.

Each gîte has either one or two bedrooms and can accommodate up to 2 (+1), 4 or 5 people. There’s plenty of space for everyone in the grounds of nearly an acre and on the large terrace around the 10m x 5m chlorine-free swimming pool.

table & chairs

Ruth and Neil don’t want you to feel that you’re moving house when coming on holiday so each gîte comes equipped with everything you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday. They provide all linen and towels, including pool towels, all the cleaning materials you’ll need, and all consumables for the dishwasher and washing machine; they even supply the loo paper!  On arrival, the kitchen will be stocked with some basic staples and a welcome pack will be waiting for you.

Each kitchen has a dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and coffee machine.  For entertainment, there’s UK satellite TV, DVD & CD players, Bluetooth speaker, Wi-Fi and a selection of books and board games. Outside, each gîte has its own fully-enclosed courtyard with patio area and pergola, and a barbeque.

“Having visited previously in 2012 when Paul & Janice were owners we decided to return to the excellent Gîte Fennel (née Chez Frankie).  We have been delighted that the previous wonderful standards have not only been maintained by Ruth & Neil but even exceeded.  Well done Ruth & Neil and many thanks for being truly excellent hosts and all the very best for a successful venture – much deserved.” C & R, Saffron Walden
