If you like railways, or are interested in Swindon’s heritage, or have time and skills you want to use for a good cause, why not join the Friends of Swindon Railway Museum? The Friends support the STEAM Museum to conserve and promote the heritage of Swindon railway works and the GWR.
In the heart of what was once the largest railway engineering complex in the world, the Museum tells the story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the GWR. Find out more about STEAM at http://www.steam-museum.org.uk.
The Friends provide funding to support the Museum in the acquisition of objects and to enhance the facilities and resources available to visitors.
Members receive a quarterly journal ‘North Star’ full of interesting articles about the GWR and have unlimited free entry to the STEAM museum.
The Friends run an annual lecture programme which is also free to Members. You can find the 2018 programme here. http://pennypost.org.uk/event/swindon-rail-museum-lectures/.
At £18 for adults and £16 for over 65’s, the annual subscription is excellent value and you can find out more, including how to join, on the Friends web site: http://www.fosrm.org.uk .
