Free Radio & Social Media Training

Greenham WP

In association with the major local event ‘Greenham: 100 Years of War and Peace’ we are offering a series of free radio and social media workshops for volunteers age 18 & over.

You will learn radio skills to help gather and record memories of Greenham Common that will emerge from Greenham: War & Peace, a unique series of events that will mark the 20th anniversary of the Greenham Trust in September 2017.  This is an amazing opportunity to learn from and work alongside media professionals, including Claire Burdett from The Media Marketing Co and contribute to BBC local radio output and museum exhibitions.  This training programme is in association with BBC Radio Berkshire and under the supervision of media professionals.  As a result of the course there is also the ongoing possibility of volunteering with Kennet Radio.

During the workshops a broadcast radio expert will take you through some key radio production skills – identifying stories; researching and preparing for interviews; interviewing and editing skills; reporting from location and podcasts.

A local social media expert will take students through an introduction to using social media platforms. You will conduct interviews with some live guests, and attend the main Greenham: War and Peace events to gather audio and stories which will be offered to various outlets, from online to the BBC…All these skills are relevant for anyone interested in media careers in radio, TV, print and online.
