Product designer, Maya Alvarado has moved to spoonsHungerford for one year to work at the renowned furniture company Benchmark. Maya is a Fixpert – a social designer who makes products bespoke for each individual. Five months into her residency, Maya has helped a number of local people already. She has designed and made a fold down food tray for Mrs Ellis in Kintbury and a set of cooking utensils for student Heidi who has cerebral palsy.

Fixperts is about fixing something for someone.
It is a creative social platform and education project that invites people who are good at making and repair to fix for others. Co-founded in 2012 by Daniel Charny and James Carrigan.
