Testimonials from Indoor Bowlers

We are all over 70 and really enjoy indoor bowls and it does us all good. Several of us have bad hearts but we can still have great fun because it’s not too strenuous. One lady has poor eyesight but she can still see the colours of the balls. Anyone can enjoy the game even if they have never played before. We teach them as we go along.

We always stop for a cup of coffee and biscuits and have a good laugh. It’s very sociable and a great way to make new friends.

Mary Hillier, Lambourn

I really look forward to our Monday bowls in Lambourn every week.  It’s a great chance to get out of the house and have fun. It gives my wife Pat a couple of hours break from caring for me. There are a lot of things I’m not allowed to do any more because when you’re in a wheelchair you can usually only watch what others are able to do.  Bowling is great because I can do it just the same as everyone else and my wheelchair is ignored.

Phil Smith, Newbury

My husband uses a wheelchair and it doesn’t make any difference – he’s just one of the gang and can participate on the same level as everyone else. John has taught him the basics and every week is a good laugh.  It’s a great opportunity to make new friends and be active in a sport that in a fun way that is accessible to everyone whatever their ability or disability. We try to make it every week but if we miss the odd one due to family commitments it doesn’t matter.
