Careers Springboard West Berkshire (CSWB) is run by volunteers to help redundant and unemployed managers and executives in the Newbury and surrounding areas to find a new position. We meet on Wednesdays in Broadway House, near the Clock Tower in Newbury, from 1.45pm to about 4pm.
Each meeting includes a workshop or presentation on a job search topic, e.g. CV preparation, interview skills, networking, job-search strategies, self-organisation, etc. We sometimes also include a 45-minute mini-session on a separate topic.
Each meeting follows roughly the following format:
- 1:45 pm – Networking and round-table updates. Please arrive promptly on time, since access is more complicated after 1:45pm start (see below).
- 2:15 pm (approx) – Workshop session. Typically this will be a presentation followed by small group (3-4 people) discussions, and closing with reporting back and summary of key points
- 3:45 pm (approx) – Informal networking and 1-to-1 sessions with volunteers and/or
mini-sessions – topics that go in more depth on specific topics. You are free to leave at the end of the main session (between 3:30 and 3:45) if you do not wish to participate in these activities
- 4:45pm – Meeting ends.
There will be light refreshments available on a side table in the conference room.
All meetings take place in Conference Room G9 on the ground floor of:
4-8 The Broadway
The programme cycle runs three times a year, starting in January, April and September, but candidates can join at any time. The volunteers can also provide individual one-to-one coaching on any aspect of the job search.
There is no charge for our services and we operate as a charity.
