Bluebird Care has given its first ever Community Grant to the Fair Close Day Centre in Newbury, to purchase materials and equipment for a weekly craft activity which takes place at the centre.

The community grant scheme was launched in July to benefit local voluntary groups in Newbury and West Berkshire who work with older people. Staff from Bluebird Care reviewed the applications and were very pleased to support the important work of the Fair Close Day Centre.

The grant will enable the Fair Close Day Centre to continue their weekly craft session, offering activities like painting and drawing. The centre provides a friendly environment for its 300 members to develop friendships and maintain their independence and wellbeing. They are open five days a week and provide a range of activities including lunch, bingo and learning new craft skills.

Fair Close Day Centre is an independent charity set up to encourage, promote, and support the needs of individual older people who use their services. They run a lunch club, meals on wheels, organise trips for members, bingo, Whist, a Knit ‘n Knatter group and craft activities. They also provide welfare advice and support.
