Bike Appeal for West Berkshire’s Rough Sleepers

Newbury Soup Kitchen needs bicycles for their homeless and rough sleeping clients to allow them to go to interviews, get to work and in some cases visit their children and families.

A bicycle can give someone independence and trust.

How can you help?

Do you have a spare bike you don’t need any more? The Community Furniture Project in Newbury will be glad to receive unwanted bikes (whatever condition) as they refurbish and sell many secondhand bikes year round. They will then provide free bikes requested by Newbury Soup Kitchen for their clients.

How to donate your bikes

1. Bikes can be dropped off at the Community Furniture Project, Bone Lane Newbury, RG14 5SS 9am – 5pm Monday – Saturday
2. Bikes can be taken to the Household Recycling Centre at Newbury dump 8.30am – 7.30pm 7 days a week (don’t forget to display your West Berks resident permit).
3. You can call 01635 43933 or [email protected] to arrange for the Community Furniture Project team to come and collect bikes from you (If you would like to make a donation to go towards their £15 collection costs please click here).

Many thanks Terry from TR Cycle Repairs who kindly collected and refurbished some donated bicycles for us until we realised we simply don’t have enough storage space for processing the bikes.
