The Brown Dog Financial Planning ethos: it’s all about YOU

Brown Dog Financial Planning

I start with it’s all about YOU and then instantly talk about ME.  How rude is that?  However a little background can be a useful thing.

I am a country girl at heart with amongst other things a little brown dog to support.  I’ve done my stint in Africa and then a stretch being corporate in London and loved it all.  The point is that I love the shape my life is now but I am sure it will all look different again in another 20 years’ time.

I am a Financial Planner by occupation and have the logical mind which that requires, but I like to think I go about it a bit differently.

This is where YOU come in.  I firmly believe that I can’t advise you what to do with your money and how to make your plans without knowing more about what makes you tick.  It’s as much about how you’ve got to where you are now as to where you are headed.

What do you want?

So for me it’s all about YOU.  What is Your Why?  What makes you do what you do?  Do you like it? Do you hate it? What do you day dream about?  Where do you want to retire? Do you yearn to travel or are you a homebird? How much is Your Enough?

It’s all about looking at your life as it is now and keeping the bits you like and trying to make it possible for you to change the bits you don’t.  Once you have the information you can make the choices that are important to you and have a realistic expectation of the outcomes.

Life is not a rehearsal, we only have one go at it.  Don’t be one of those people like my Dad who worked so hard to provide everything for his family we didn’t see him enough.  He’s very well off now, but he missed out on so much and we’re now adults and busy, so I think he’s a bit lonely.

Its all about balance and having a plan to get where you want to but more importantly knowing the consequences of your choices.

If you want to retire early, then how much will you need to live on and more importantly where are you building it from?  The State Pension is a great stepping stone to retirement, but that’s what it is a stepping stone.  You have to do the rest.

Phew…that was all a bit hard-core for this time of day, but it’s true.

“Thank you so much for your help in putting the right words together and just being there…it has been a seriously tense fraught time for the last few months and hopefully we can begin to turn to some kind of normal again now we have a plan in place.”    S Hart, Pangbourne

  1. Hi Jessamy

Would you be able to give me a rough ideas of what your fees to assist in retirement planning please? I appreciate it very much depends on each individual case and ‘portfolio’ but I’d just like a rough idea so I can decide what to do next.

    Kind regards
    Elaine Newton

    1. Hi Elaine

      Thank you for asking.

You are right, it does depend very much on your personal circumstances. Please give me a call in the office on 01488 682890 and we can have a chat and I can give you a quote when I know a bit more detail

We offer a first meeting to discuss in more detail what you want to achieve and to show you our process at no obligation or cost. I send you a short summary of our discussion after the meeting and a quote and it’s then up to you if you want to proceed.

I look forward to talking to you.

      Kind regards
      Jessamy
