Autumn Wildlife Photography Course @ The Nature Discovery Centre
Oct 27 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Photograph the Autumn wildlife with practical guidance and tuition from wildlife photographer Iain Green. Discover and learn about seasonal specialities of the reserve and how to photograph them.

A practical course, the day will begin with an introductory session inside, before heading out to explore. Suitable for both beginner and intermediate photographers, the tuition is tailored to suit. Due to the small numbers on the course there will be plenty of time for individual tuition.

During the day we will learn how to photograph autumnal bird highlights, hunting herons, passing migrant and stunning scenery. You will learn how to create some creative photographs. We will explore colour, texture and the form of the natural landscape in Autumn. This course is suitable for anyone who would like to improve their photography skills or those who are new to photography and are mystified by the settings and buttons on the camera! The course is aimed primarily at adults but older children accompanied by an adult would be welcome.

Please come dressed for the weather, the terrain around the Centre and nature reserve is fairly level but can be uneven and muddy, so please wear sturdy footwear. Please bring you camera and instructions if you have them. The course fee includes refreshments throughout the day, lunch and afternoon tea.

A Mindful Walk in Nature
Nov 6 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

A mindful walk in an area of natural beauty.

The Walk: Mindfulness is about being fully aware of our experience in the present moment. Practising mindfulness has been found to increase wellbeing and improve aspects of mental health. Most of us are mindful at times without necessarily realising it, and walking in nature often provides an opportunity to open up to our experience in the present moment and appreciate the world we live in. The walk will be in silence with guided short practices focusing on the body, the breath and our natural surroundings.

The leader: Suzi is a retired educational psychologist and qualified yoga teacher. She has worked in local authorities and in private practice. She has practised meditation for over 30 years and has extensive experience of teaching mindfulness with groups.
