Crofton Beam Engines salute to Wiltshire in the First World War @ Crofton Pumping Station
Jul 28 @ 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
Crofton Beam Engines salute to Wiltshire in the First World War @ Crofton Pumping Station | Burbage | England | United Kingdom

On the 28th and 29th of July, Crofton Beam Engines will be hosting a number of free activities for all age groups around the theme of Wiltshire’s contribution to the Great War effort. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family with role-play and dressing up opportunities for children of all ages.

  • Learn what it was like to join up to Kitchener’s army and live through the Great War.
  • Hear about the men of the 7 Wiltshire Regiments that fought in the Great War.
  • Visit Wiltshire Museums display showing life on the Home Front under ‘Wiltshire at War’.
  • A display of World War 1 related objects and replicas that those serving in the first world war and here on the home front would have known.
  • Discover the uses for some unusual objects with ‘Strange Old Things’.

Of course our beam engines will be in steam and pumping over the whole weekend.

The Engineman’s Rest Café will be open and there will be a BBQ to feed the troops. Do come along for a great day out. Remember, apart from entry to the Engine House on this steaming weekend all these activities are provided for free by the volunteers at Crofton Beam Engines.
