Over 2 sessions you will be shown a simple sewn technique that can be used to make a plain garment spring to life. Embellish hand knitted or commercially produces items making them unique. You can create lettering, flowers or anything else you choose.

In 6 full day sessions, Jill will take you through the entire process to make a small, bespoke quilt. You will start by solidifying your ideas and selecting fabrics and colours. You will learn quick piecing methods and appliqué. The next stage is layering and stretching with wadding and backing. Finally machine and hand quilting will be covered. Not only will you complete a quilt, you will also have honed the skills to do this again and again.

Madame Danielle Simpson, a native speaker of French living in Newbury, leads a weekly conversational French class.  We welcome people of all abilities.  Most members of the class can sustain a conversation in French without resorting to English.  If you would like to join the class, come along and see what we do.  It is an enjoyable couple of hours each Thursday morning.  It will keep you in contact with the language and others who live around Newbury and speak French.

Don’t know how to help or where to get advice?

With 1 in 10 individuals in the UK exhibiting signs of dyslexia, then this might be the reason why they are struggling.

Local Dyslexia Specialist, Jacqui Flisher, runs a free advice session on the last Saturday of the month at Hungerford Library in West Berkshire for anyone will concerns about dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

There will be practical help and advice for:

  • Dyslexia in the workplace
  • How to claim Disabled Students’ Allowance whilst studying at university for Dyslexic Students
  • Getting a formal assessment of Dyslexia
