Sep 8 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Poetry Afloat @ The Rose of Hungerford

‘Poetry Afloat’
An Open Mic Night on The Rose of Hungerford with guest poet Steve Wallis

Join us for an evening of poetry aboard the Rose of Hungerford. Steve Wallis will be launching (!)) his new book of poems ‘Along the Way’ – a collection of poems of the social, political and natural histories of the Kennet & Avon canal, exploring and celebrating the landscape, artifacts and communities along its route. What better place to hold this event than on The Rose of Hungerford?

After a selection of Steve’s verse we will open the floor to the audience. This event is the perfect taster for this year’s literary festival (13-15 October) which will revolve around the theme of Journeys. In the spirit of this theme please bring along a poem (or two) inspired by ‘Journeys’ to be read aloud (Emma will devise a running order as you board).

Steve Wallis lives in Newbury and walks the towpath every day with his dog. This is Steve’s second collection for Tawny Owl Press, following on the success of Common Words: Poetry of Greenham Common. Books will be available to buy on the night. Please bring cash if possible.

Bring Your Own Bottle.
