The Hut People @ ACE Space
Sep 16 @ 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm

The Hut People

Taking the audience on a musical journey around the World, English instrumental duo The Hut People (Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond) have over the last 4 years proved to be one of THE most unique, entertaining and best-loved acts on the UK folk scene today.  Mixing global rhythms with folk tunes from Quebec to Spain, Scandinavia to Sussex and everywhere in between, this is a quirky celebration of our rich musical heritage – and it works so well!  Sam’s strong folk background and Gary’s jazz and World music (not forgetting the stint with Beautiful South) is not an obvious combination but who cares when the results are so stunning.

This is a show like nothing you’ve ever seen before – expect feel-good dancing tunes, audience participation, step dancing, Quebecois foot-percussion (whilst playing the accordion!) and humour aplenty.

Those lucky enough to have been at their previous ACE Space gig will always fondly remember the musical rendition of squeaky pigs.

Sam and Gary will be running a World Rhythms Workshop in the afternoon which promises to be a lot of fun.

The August List

The August List

The August List are a boy / girl two-piece who play backwards country / porch folk with a startling rock ‘n’ roll attitude. Acoustic guitars, kick drums, harmonicas, found instruments and their voices are deployed with verve and passion on songs concerning the frailty of human existence, the awesomeness of nature and other fun things.

“It’s a rare West Country husband-and-wife duo that can pull off the knack of sounding simultaneously like a vintage Louisiana jug band and at the same time very much like themselves.” – Tom Robinson

Start: 8:00pm (Doors Open 7:30)

Tickets are available locally in advance from Hogan Music.
