Holy Moly & The Crackers

Gypsy folk rock delivered with relentless energy.  This band brings a carnival atmosphere to the stage that’s made them one of the most popular bands on the festival circuit.

A review on the “Brag” website neatly summed them up as “a wild and raging six-piece who sound like they’ve run away from the circus to somewhere in France in the pursuit of exploring every musical genre they can. Expect a combination of soft folk, speed gypsy, racing Spanish rhythms, rock ‘n’ roll and a traditional Jewish wedding march blended into a richly gratifying tapestry of sound.”  The review went on to say “Holy Moly move through their set with a sense of graceful chaos and wild energy that is truly infectious. Patterson and Bird alternate between singing and serenading each other with fiddle and trumpet solos, which layer effortlessly over their contrasting voices. Each song is different and pulls you between euphoria and tragedy within seconds, all the while fully acted out by Bird who brings a theatrical element to the show with his on stage jigging, floor dropping and pirouetting in between lines.”

Although hailing from Newcastle there is a local connection as Conrad Bird has grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins in Newbury.

+ Hannah Scott

From Suffolk via Italy, Hannah Scott performs contemporary folk music and is picking up a loyal following thanks to her distinctive voice, strong melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. She has found her musical home with creative partner Stefano Della Casa, and they are putting the finishing touches to a new record due out early next year. Hannah’s music has been heard on BBC Radio 2, including a live session on Dermot O’Leary’s Saturday afternoon show, and praise for her work has arrived from publications such as MOJO and The Guardian. She was awarded funding by PRS Foundation to travel to New York to perform at music festival Mondo NYC and has run a successful PledgeMusic campaign to return again this autumn. Her arresting live performances have earned her support slots for the likes of 10cc and Seth Lakeman and shows at venues such as London’s Union Chapel.

Dynamic Yoga Practise

Ashtanga Yoga is a highly structured style of yoga popularised by K. Pattabhi Jois during the 20th centuary. Ashtanga means eight limbs or branches of yoga and in class we will focus on three of these; Asana (physical posture), Pranayama (breath) and Dhyana (meditation).

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic, physically demanding practise which synchronises smooth breath, steady posture and concentrated gaze.  There is a defined set of asanas (postures)  linked by vinyasa (a specific series of movements). These three elements combine seamlessly into rituals of movement.

Once the sequence of movement is familiar to you, your practice will become both physical and meditative.

The smaller class number (8 maximum) at The Wellbeing Centre means that you you will receive individual modifications and alignments to ensure that you get the most from your experience of Ashtanga.

About Sarah Tominey

I am a part time maths teacher in a local secondary school. My yoga journey began several years ago when I discovered Vinyasa Flow yoga. The feeling of mental and physical wellbeing I got from my practice encouraged me to try many different styles of yoga. Ashtanga yoga offered the right balance of physical workout and mental calm which I found irresistable.

I am a qualified yoga teacher and member of the Yoga Aliance. I completed my Yoga Teacher Training (RYT 200) at Vimoksha Yoga School in Goa, India. I am passionate about Ashtanga yoga which is  a whole life stye choice leading to self knowledge and self acceptance.
