The Living Rainforest

The Living Rainforest is a brilliant all-weather attraction for a multi-generational family. We are home to over 700 plants and animals including rare and endangered species. We welcome almost 100,000 visitors each year, including 26,000 children on school trips.

Come and spot your favourite creatures: monkeys and marmosets, pythons and tree snakes, blue poison dart frogs and exquisite butterflies, toucans and, of course, Cinnamon the two-toed sloth.

Explore the “edible forest” where common foods such as coffee and bananas originate and discover rare orchids and endangered bromeliads.

The Living Rainforest is run by the Trust for Sustainable Living, a global educational charity which inspires the next generation to achieve a sustainable future. The centre includes thought-provoking exhibits that highlight the dangers of climate change, deforestation, and the trade in exotic pets.

Our gift shop specialises in sustainable, educational and fun toys and souvenirs. Our cafe and outdoor jungle play area are popular year round.

 Daily Guided Tours

Every day visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the rainforest, free with normal admission. Our expert guides will answer your questions and tell you about our amazing plants and animals, from insect-eating plants to tree-dwelling snakes. Tours are suitable for all ages.

Times vary according to term and holiday time. Please click here for details.

Book a Keeper Experience

Have you ever wondered if monkeys really do like bananas or if sloths can eat upside-down?

Book a Keeper Experience (or buy one as a gift) for the chance to help feed and take care of the animals with one of our knowledgeable keepers. You’ll get exclusive behind the scenes access, and the chance to tailor-make your experience.

Our keepers will accompany you into each enclosure so you will get the opportunity for some unbeatable pictures with your favourite animals while you serve out the afternoon feeds.

Our unique junior experiences give children the chance to get involved behind the scenes too.

School Visits

We are a popular destination for school visits. Our 50 minute guided tours ensure an engaging & immersive experience for all pupils. We provide a timetable to help you plan your day and tour notes and worksheets for each tour. Our education team are here to help you make the most of your day. Please click here for details of the itineraries we offer.

Admission Cost

One visit is never enough so your ticket is valid for one year (excluding Bank Holidays from March to September)! Click here to buy your tickets online or pay on your first visit to us. Prices start at £8.85.

We are open daily 10am-5pm, except for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. When planning your visit, please check our school visit schedule. Last visitors are admitted at 4.30pm.
