Hungerford Care Home

A real home has as much personality as the people who live there. That’s why we’ve made Hungerford a place you’d be proud of and happy to live in – just as you would your own home.

Excellently situated, Hungerford Care Home is located just two miles north of Hungerford, where you’ll find amenities (including a considerable number of antique shops), eateries and river walks. Nearby, enjoy the stunning scenery of the North Wessex Downs and the sights and shops of Newbury.

A home to be proud of

Our home is set across two floors. We have three wings and in each there are communal lounges and a dining room, as well as ample outdoor space, meaning peace and quiet is never far away.

We offer brighterkind care – a person-centred approach that is delivered through quality care, recreation and activities, and food and dining.

brighterkind has been awarded ‘Residential Care Provider of the year 2017’. Judges described our ‘Magic Moments’ and ‘Wishing Well’ activities as ‘inspirational’.

Our philosophy

We believe that real care cannot be provided until we completely understand the person being cared for. We will work together to create a lifestyle that suits you; that aims to make you happy and keep you healthy. These are our ultimate goals, and we have four principles that help us achieve them. They sit at the heart of everything we do and will inspire the way we look after you or your loved one.

Your room

With 52 bedrooms offering nursing and dementia care, we think carefully about the type of room each resident needs. Many of our rooms are en-suite and there are bath and shower rooms in each wing for residents to use with or without assistance.

All our rooms have recently been refurbished to the highest specifications with new furniture, soft furnishings and fittings. We have designed the rooms with your comfort in mind. Your bedroom furniture consists of: an appropriate bed suitable to your needs, wardrobe, bedside table with lockable drawer, armchair and other furniture suitable to the size of the room. Your bed linen and towels are provided by the home.

Caring partners

All brighterkind residents receive the very best personal care tailored to their own particular needs. One way we achieve this is through our Caring Partners programme, currently up and running in a number of our homes.

We’ve teamed up with some of the country’s leading healthcare providers to bring complimentary check-ups into our homes, as well as some fantastic offers. Our current free check-up includes an NHS eye examination from Visioncall and a hearing test from Amplifon.

The care that we offer

Whilst the Care Quality Commission (CQC) sets the minimum staffing level for a care home, we take pride in providing a higher level of personalised care for all our residents, so our staff levels exceed this requirement.

Testimonials

“The staff are so friendly and helpful. My Dad was very happy and made comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for my Dad to be in a nicer place.” (Michelle S, daughter of resident).

“I cannot fault the home for its brightness, cleanliness and all the friendly staff who looked after me. Nothing was too much trouble. A lovely garden to sit in which I did daily, good food daily, a good atmosphere around the whole home always.” (Angela S, resident).

“The whole experience of moving mum into the care home went very well. Mum was very tired and confused when she arrived, but the staff have been very patient in settling her in. Today, with the help of the staff, she was playing musical bingo, which is good as she likes company.” (Neale P, son of resident).
