Claridge Funeral Service provides a personal, dignified and unique service to everyone. Nothing is ever too much trouble for us in making a person’s final journey fitting and appropriate for them and their family. Every funeral is individual and tailored entirely to your wishes, within all budgets.
“Daniel, words cannot express enough how thankful we all are for everything you did for our son. I was overwhelmed by your kind gesture and am so happy that he got to stay with you so that his friends had a chance to say their final goodbyes. You are a truly lovely person inside, and out, and we will never forget your kindness.”
Claridge Funeral Service is an independent local family business owned and run by Mary, Richard and Daniel Claridge. We place great importance in providing you with an exceptional service offering continuity of care and personal attention.
If you feel you would like to meet us and know a little more please contact us to arrange a visit. We would be delighted to show you around and answer any questions you may have. We also encourage you to visit other local funeral directors to ensure you are making the right choice.
We will listen, offer comfort, gentle guidance and practical advice to help you through this difficult and emotional time, allowing you to concentrate on the important, personal decisions to be made regarding the funeral arrangements. We are happy to take on as much, or as little, responsibility on your behalf as you wish – nothing is too much trouble.
Taking a Person into our care
When a person dies it is naturally a very upsetting and emotional time. Unfortunately, during this time important decisions need to be made regarding the funeral arrangements but from the first call we will take the burden of legalities and formalities away giving you the time to concentrate on the most important and personal choices.
We can do this at our office or in the comfort of your own home. If you are not local, we can make the arrangements over the telephone or email.
If the death is expected and happens at home a medical professional must formally confirm this, before we are able to take the person into our care. If the death is sudden, unexplained or accidental, a coroner may be informed. This is a formality and you should not worry about it. When you feel ready you can contact us and we will then liaise to bring the person into our care.
Unlike many funeral directors we only use a specially-converted modern Mercedes car, together with specialist equipment, to collect the person who has died, making the process natural, discreet and dignified.
Our office and chapel are situated in a quiet courtyard in Marlborough town centre offering a calm, quiet and private place for you to spend as much time as you need. Our chapel is spacious and light to accommodate all of our families who visit. We are the only funeral directors in the area to have the facilities to hold small services.
We are flexible in our approach and appreciate that all backgrounds and faiths are different. Some choose not to visit the chapel while others choose to visit regularly. Those that wish to spend the night or a longer period of time with their special person are welcome. Religious blessings are also popular with those of faith.
The beautifully-decorated rooms offer a flexible space which can be arranged to suit your requirements.
Types of Funerals We Offer
From simple and discrete to elaborate and flamboyant, Claridge have the expertise to help you create your unique funeral whether you are opting for a traditional church service, a cremation, an eco-friendly green funeral or a non-religious service. We advise on and can make all the necessary arrangements.
We also offer a full range of coffins and caskets to suit different tastes; from traditional wood to wicker, American style caskets and colourful coffins for example.
When it comes to transport, there is a wide choice available from the traditional Jaguar XJ hearse we use at Claridge’s, to the more individual.
Pre-Arrangements and Pre-Payment Plans
At the time of bereavement, thoughts can often turn to one’s own mortality and the provisions made for the future. With this in mind we offer a free pre-arrangement service which acts as a guide to those wanting to record the wishes of a relative, friend or themselves. We are happy to meet in person to discuss this or can send a guide through the post. We will then keep any choices made safely on file with the option to make changes at any time.
For those wishing to prepare for the future, we offer a pre-payment plan, through Golden Charter, offering a secure and flexible way to cover funeral costs, giving comfort and peace of mind.
Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss the options available.
About Claridge Funeral Service
Daniel Claridge became the youngest qualified Funeral Director in the country when, aged 18, he gained his National Association of Funeral Directors Diploma. Daniel’s ambition has always been to start his own funeral service to offer people of all backgrounds an individual, personal family-based funeral service to suit all budgets.
With the help of his own family, this became a reality when Claridge Funeral Service was launched in September 2017.
Immensely proud of their local area, the Claridge family have been involved in community life for many years through the Ambulance Service, local events, charity work and providing funeral services, all this earning them a reputation for care, compassion and dedication.
‘I recently lost my father, he passed away in Newbury, and we were pointed in the direction of a large funeral company but we discovered that they deal with you like they are completing a used car order form, and my mother, sister and myself walked out. So I called Daniel at Claridge to ask if he would help us in Newbury, and he said the location and distance was no problem. In fact, everything about Claridge is just amazing, when you have just lost a loved one, you need compassion, help and support, Claridge are simply superb in every aspect, I cannot recommend them enough, from all of our family thank you so much’. ‘Daniel – a small note to say very many thanks to you, to your mother and to all your team for all that you have done for us. I have really appreciated your unobtrusive efficiency, being able to talk to you easily, and all the small tasks you have undertaken to make everything run smoothly.’
‘To Daniel and all at Claridge Funeral Service, you have all been extremely amazing, helpful and professional in preparing the funeral service. I can’t thank you all enough for your hard work. I’m very grateful.’
“Nothing has been too much trouble for you and that in itself has been a huge comfort to us.”
