New Year, New Challenge ?

It’s that time of year that we make New Year’s Resolutions, such as:

  • I want to try something different
  • I want to meet new people
  • I want to get fit
  • I want to create something I can be proud in

The good news is that at Crofton Beam Engines, we can help with all the above resolutions as part of our Heritage Lottery funded project ‘Our Crofton Story’.  We’ve got lots of opportunities such as:

  • 1920s Garden:
    • We’re creating a 1920s Garden at Crofton so we need people who might be interested in researching about gardens during the inter-war period which will help us decide how the garden should look or spending a few hours in planting and maintaining the garden.
  • Marketing:
    • We want to make sure everyone knows about us and the exciting things happening, so we need people interested in areas like Social Media or developing our marketing plans, helping to publicise Crofton and reaching new audiences.
  • Virtual Archive:
    • We’re collecting digital copies of photos and documents relating to Crofton with a longer term plan to make these accessible to others, so we need people willing to scan and record and help us to preserve this important source of information.
  • Front of House:
    • We provide full training for volunteers to take our visitors on tours around the building during the Open Season.

Knowledge of steam or the canal is not essential, but a willingness to give new things a try is.  There’s lots more opportunities to volunteer at Crofton, so get in touch.
