Volunteer Ambassadors Needed for North Wessex Downs AONB

Could you be an Ambassador for the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)?

The North Wessex Downs is an amazing yet often overlooked landscape. The unique geology, rich heritage and special habitats it offers to rare species are some of the many reasons why the area has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty protected by law to ensure that its special qualities are conserved and enhanced. And yet many people who live here are unaware of the qualities on their doorstep and how they can help to keep it special.

Summer in the North Wessex Downs

The North Wessex Downs AONB Partnership is looking for presenters to help spread the word. What’s needed is enthusiasm, the confidence to engage an audience and a commitment to raising awareness of this very special landscape.

The aim is to have a team of volunteers across the AONB so each presenter can do as many presentations as they wish – even one or two a year would be very valuable. There is a constant demand for presentations from local groups (including parish councils, walkers and biodiversity groups) and we are also keen to hear from volunteers who can reach new audiences such as schools and youth groups.

There are professionally designed materials with a film, illustrations, photos and a supporting script. In addition, the Partnership will offer full training and support for all volunteers and any travel expenses will be reimbursed.
